Green infrastructure at work 💪 these rain gardens are detaining rainwater from yesterday’s storm. Soon the water will drain back to the ground. This is what managing rainwater where it falls looks like! Before these rain gardens were built, rainwater would be heading to the drainage system and putting more stress on pumping it out to Lake Pontchartrain. This site has 3 rain gardens, permeable paver walk ways and one bioswale and it has the capacity to manage over 20,000 gallons of stormwater!
